Ottocast Mini Cube 3.0: phone flashing, connection fix and my verdict

Tested in a 2020 Mercedes CLS using a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The adapter wasn’t faulty—the missing step was completing the setup on the vehicle display.

My phone said it was connected, but Android Auto would not open on the Mercedes display. The phone kept flashing and trying again. The important step I had missed was to continue the setup on the car screen.

The connection problem

I initially tried Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and the adapter settings. None of those attempts solved the problem because the next part of the process needed to be completed through the vehicle's own display.

Before assuming the adapter is faulty: check whether your car screen is waiting for you to approve or complete Android Auto setup.

What worked after setup

Once I completed the setup on the vehicle display, Android Auto connected. Maps, music information and the steering-wheel controls all worked as expected.

What I liked

  • Excellent sound quality
  • The convenience of wireless Android Auto
  • Steering-wheel controls worked

What I didn’t

  • Occasional glitches
  • The Android Auto logo takes up too much screen space
  • The missing setup step was not obvious

My verdict

The Ottocast Mini Cube 3.0 delivered excellent audio and the convenience I wanted once connected. It has not been completely glitch-free, and I dislike how much screen space the Android Auto logo occupies. Compatibility and results can vary between cars and phones.
